Woodgrain started in New York with the two of us and a pretty simple idea: we wanted to make golf clothes that we actually wanted to wear.

We both grew up around golf, and we’ve always loved the way the game used to look. The oversized polos, wider trousers, knitwear, old hats the stuff you see in photos from the ’80s and ’90s that somehow still looks better today than most of what’s being made now.

At some point, golf style moved away from that. Everything got tighter, brighter, and more performance-driven. We kept looking for pieces that had that older feel but still made sense to actually golf in, and we could never really find them.

So we decided to make them ourselves.

We started Woodgrain in New York, designing the first pieces, learning as we went, and obsessing over all the little things that make vintage golf clothes fit the way they do. The proportions, the fabrics, the weight, the details, we didn’t want to just make something that looked vintage. We wanted to understand what made those clothes so good in the first place and bring that feeling back.

That’s still how we approach everything we make.

Woodgrain is our take on where golf style should be going by looking back at where it came from. Pieces made for the course, but clothes you’d want to wear long after you leave it.

We’re still figuring things out, still designing what we want to wear, and still building this brand piece by piece.

It started with the two of us in New York.

And we’re just getting started.
